Using a variety of theories and approaches, I help my clients access their own (often hidden) resources to promote healing and transformation in their journey towards wholeness, authenticity, genuine positive relationships, and a deepening connection to self, nature, spirit, and community.

Drawing from my ongoing studies in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Bodynamics, and Dance/Movement Therapy, I adapt my approach to meet the needs of individual clients. Sensorimotor Psychotherapy is a non-cathartic mind-body approach which is a highly effective method of treating emotional and traumatic symptoms. Based in neurobiology, it works with the nervous system to effect changes in the way the brain and body function.

I believe that change, growth, and healing happen in the context of relationship and thus the therapeutic relationship is an essential component in the healing process. The integration of cognitive, emotional, and sensorimotor aspects of the whole person is essential  for effective healing to take place.

Professional counselling and psychotherapy services are offered on a fee for service basis. Receipts are issued for reimbursement through your Extended Health Benefits Plan or to retain as a medical expense for income tax purposes. The Employee Assistance Program through your workplace may also be of assistance.

What is Counselling?

Counselling involves a two-pronged approach: looking at problems that occurred while you were growing up as well as shock traumas. Problems from your childhood and adolescent years can create patterns in your relationships today and affect your ability to cope with stress and manage disturbing symptoms. In addition, you are no doubt aware that major shock traumas such as abuse, assault, natural disasters, accidents or other life-threatening events can affect you deeply. But even seemingly less significant events, such as falls and surgery can also have a profound impact your level of stress, perceptions, physical and emotional symptoms, and way of responding to the world.
